Your First Visit
Your first visit is a chance for us to get to know you, understand your goals, and complete a careful review of your oral health. We aim to keep this appointment structured but unhurried, with time for questions and discussion.
If possible, we will send your medical history and registration forms in advance so you can complete them at home. If that is not convenient, you can arrive a few minutes early to fill them out in the office. If you have recent X-rays or records from another clinic, you can let us know when you book. With your permission, we can help request those records.
When you arrive, our front desk team will confirm your information and review any forms that are needed. We may ask about your medical history, medications, and any specific concerns you want us to focus on. This is a good time to tell us if you feel anxious about dental visits, have had difficult experiences in the past, or have preferences about how much detail you like during explanations. The more we know, the better we can adapt.
Your first clinical visit often includes a review of your teeth, gums, and bite, an assessment of existing fillings, crowns, or other restorations, and digital X-rays where appropriate. In some cases, we may also take photographs or a digital scan. We will explain what we are doing as we go, and let you know if we see anything that needs closer attention.
Once the exam is complete, we will discuss our findings with you in plain language. This may include what looks healthy, what we want to watch over time, and any recommended treatment options. If treatment is recommended, we will outline possible approaches, timing, and estimated fees. In many cases there is more than one way to proceed, and we will walk through the options and help you decide what fits your goals and circumstances.
If time allows, we may be able to provide a cleaning at the same visit. In some situations, especially when more complex care is needed, we may schedule hygiene and treatment on separate days.
The goal of your first visit is not only to check your teeth, but to start a long term working relationship where you feel informed and comfortable.
