What is Cosmetic dentistry?

Cosmetic dentistry focuses on the appearance of your teeth and smile, while still respecting function and long term health. At Kits Dental Group, cosmetic treatment starts with a careful look at your current situation, followed by a discussion of what kind of change you would like to see. We aim for results that look natural on your face, fit your bite, and are practical to maintain.

Teeth whitening

If you are concerned about staining or darkening of your teeth, whitening may be an option. We can review whether in office whitening, take home trays, or a combination approach is appropriate for you.

During your visit, we review:

  • The current shade of your teeth

  • The type of staining present

  • Any existing restorations that may not change colour

From there, we outline what type of whitening is likely to be effective and safe for your situation.

Dental bonding

Bonding uses tooth coloured material to correct small chips, close minor spaces, or adjust the shape of a tooth. It is often a conservative option, since it can sometimes be completed with minimal change to your existing tooth structure. Bonding may be an option if you are looking for modest, targeted improvements.

Porcelain veneers

Veneers are thin porcelain coverings that are bonded to the front surface of selected teeth. They can be used to improve the appearance of teeth that are discoloured, worn, chipped, or slightly misaligned, depending on the case.

Before recommending veneers, we assess:

  • The overall alignment and bite

  • The condition of your enamel

  • How much change you are seeking

We then discuss what preparation would be required, how many teeth are involved, and what kind of maintenance is expected over time.

Planning cosmetic treatment

Cosmetic options are not one size fits all. We will usually begin with photographs and a discussion of what you like and do not like about your current smile. Together, we can decide whether whitening, bonding, veneers, alignment, or a combination of these is most appropriate, and how to sequence treatment.

If you are considering cosmetic changes, a consultation is a good way to get clear information and realistic expectations before making decisions.
